"D" Day tomorrow.....

Image
There are always so many instances in your life, which you can classify as "D" Day in your life. Same has been true with me too, but I have never mentioned that on my Blog.

But this one is just for the sake of records, I dont know by what time tomorrow the results will be out, but till then am keeping my fingers and guess everything else as crossed...

Man, I have never been so anxious in my life even when Class 12th results were to be put up by CBSE....

Hey, relieve me of this soon, whatever be the outcome.... No, make the outcome my way.....PPPPLLLLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSSS

If only you can turn the clock, and somebody just managed to turn that..... :-)

Image
It has been a dream of all of us, isnt it? Somehow the bygones are always better than the "Present".... C'mon I dont want a dispute on the same but I believe its true...

And today somebody just got to managed the reverse the clock, albeit for a few minutes..

Well, I was chatting with this person and the maternal grandma of this person was insisting that this person goes to sleep, as its too late and to be able to spend some more time on chat, this person actually went and reversed the clock about 40 mins so that we can chat a bit more.....

And I am sure this person's Nani would be utterly bewildered, that all of a sudden, how come the clock would have stopped???

And since the moment I have been told of this incident, I cant stop smiling.......

Completed 350 Posts....

Image
So have completed 350 Posts on my Blog, 354 to be precise and this one is 355th. Have deleted two posts so far on my Blog, which I had publish, otherwise it would have been 357.

But anyways, I can make up for those two Posts...

Last year had been terrible for my writing and this year I guess am off to a good start and target to hit 500 Posts before the year ends. Stiff targets, but then you give me a number to hit and my adrenaline starts pumping, so typical of a sales guy....He he he he

Bombay is chilling this winter....

Image
Last five years and it has never been so chilled here in Bombay, I mean its seems a bit familiar to how the winter used to be back there in Jabalpur.

But then, the newpapers told me that I am wrong, its been the coldest here in Bombay this winter in last 10 years????

And it has its effect on everybody, ask Peter; on one of these nights Peter slept with a cap and socks and used the mattress to save himself from cold....

Brutus, I am missing you baby.....

Image
So buddy, I guess you had helluva of time their in Pune with your long-standing wish finally coming true and I hope that you are contented finally ie ;-).

And yes, I am missing you and missing those licks of yours on my feet at night.

I must have cleaned my abode so many times, but I still get bewildered by the fact that the traces of yours keep on showing every now and then, may be some trick of yours to keep me reminding of yourself....

Now since you are back, shall visit you again in the earnest hope that would not get humped again this time.

Cya buddy!!!

Out here life is tough. Plenty tough. You are here for just 42 days -- but man, those 42 days are sheer torture. Pure agony.First they will take you apart. Bit by bit. They will kill your spirit. Crush it to death. They will stretch your endurance. On the rack. Make you realise you aren't half the soldier you thought you were. That you are weak. And can't take 40 kilometres with an 18.5 kg backpack in your stride. That you are scared. And would think thrice before freefalling 16.5 metres. That you are almost as bad as a civilian, dammit! Then they will start piecing you together. Give you endurance. Make you earn it. The hard way. Inject confidence into you. Teach you to kill efficiently. With a flick of your wrist. Teach you to master your fear. To push it away and function as if it didn't exist. Make you realise the power of the mind over body. That you are as brave as you believe you are. That you can take punishment without…

A couple of moist eyes, again........

All through our lives we strive for our dreams, some reachable;some not. Some fathomable, some eternally un-fathomable. Some real, some absurds.
But still we never give-up, because thats a normal human instinct....

What would be a life without a dream?

But there are some dreams, which dont qualify into any of the above cateogaries, they are like illusion or a mirage, you can never catch them cause they dont exist at all......But still, you chase them..

One of my eternal dream had been to join PARA Special Forces. It was very clear many years back that this dream will end up like a mirage when my father dint allow me to appear even in the written exam of NDA....And since then the mirage entices me every night and is gone giving a tinch of pain in the heart..

And this day when I watched the Gallantry awards ceremony being presided over by the President and highest gallantry award of peace time "Ashok Chakra" being awarded to Capt Harshan R posthumously, my eyes just became moist b…

IC-62541 CAPTAIN HARSHAN R, 2 PARACHUTE REGIMENT (SPECIAL FORCES), ASHOK CHAKRA (POSTHUMOUS)

THE FINAL JOURNEY OF A "RED DEVIL" AND THATS HOW HEROES GO...........

Captain Harshan R was born on 15 Apr 1980 at Manacaud, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. An alumnus of Sainik School, Kazhakootam, National Defence Academy (Khadakwasla) and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Capt Harshan R volunteered for the Special Forces and was commissioned into 2 PARA (SF) in Dec 2002.

As is known from his Academy days, Harshan was both mentally and physically an outstanding officer. The officer excelled in all his courses, with a special mention to his excellent mountaineering skills which helped him to do exceedingly well in High Altitude Warfare Course. Amongst his other skills, the officer was an under water diver and an excellent cross country runner.

Capt Harshan was a tough officer blessed with uncommon tenacity which reflected in the operations conducted by him and his relentless pursuit of terrorists in the harsh confines of Lolab valley of J & K. The officer established his repu…

The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out and meet it (Thucydides, Circa 460 BC - 400 BC).A grateful nation shall always remember you Captain, and hope that in next life we meet together in the same regiment. After all, once a soldier, always a soldier!!!

God.....Its again about Sourav Ganguly !!!

Now again theres some more crap on TV channels if the crap on "Sydney Test" was not enough.

Sourav Ganguly is not included for the current India-Australia-Sri Lanka "Down under" One-day series and again there is huge amount of protest in India and particulary in Bengal.Guess, Bengal is now left with only solitary Hero....... It is reported that even Sourav Ganguly himself was very hurt by this decision of selectors, but obviously.

Now for how long does he fancy playing for the Indian national team? He has been a tremendous asset to the team but he had his times, and now the time is to give way for the younger players.

Guess, Ganguly forgets this very important fact that only 11 players form a cricket team and if somebody would not have been excluded from the team during the England tour of India, then he would not have been able to make his dream debut even, yes ofcourse let alone the politics in Indian Cricket.

So why not bow-out when he is in full form and did quite…

Everybody's singing in India !!!

Music knows no boundaries, cast or creed. But it does not getter any bigger here in India guess.

Switch on any TV channel during the weekend and you will get to know what am talking, so from toddlers, to teenage kids to adults, TV actors to fans of Kishore Kumar fans; everybody is singing and somebody surely getting all the moolah in his bank account.

Wht to give anybody's else example, my own father doesnot misses any of the episode and keeps on surfing channel during the weekends, getting himself in tune to the various shows, simultaneously!!!

I often wonder that I missed it by few years, otherwise I would have been also singing by this time but guess would have to get contented by listening to other contestants.

But yes, these singing competitions are much better than those "Saas-Bahu" serials, where there is nothing but bitching is there....

So am not compalining at all, finally there is something worth switching on your TV....

Purani Jeans......

Everybody is fond of this song, sung by Ali Haider. I listened to this song the first time when I was on a single day trip to Lucknow with my friend. We were staying at Anurag's friend hostel and during the night they sung the song together on guitar, played by Anurag's friend.

It was that night and I have been besotted to this nostalgic song and guess have taken it seriously, almost literally!!!

I had always only one pair of Jeans, since my college days and would not take change it unless it becomes "Purani Jeans" and got torn....

This has not changed even now, on a trip to my hometown, I had a long time convincing my sister that this is not the same pair of jeans that she saw a year back but another one, looking almost similar....

For how long it will continue?

Guess, am happy with my jeans, till it becomes, "Purani Jeans"....

Can a Blog replace a Diary??? No ways....

I have written earlier on this blog that the whole purpose of writing all the blogs, is to preserve something for my "would be" children, so that when they reach the age of teenage they have something to read about their father, with which they can know or try to know a bit about their father, if at all they are able to manage, ie???

Otherwise its so difficult to make the teenage kids understand of your thoughts and feeling and lecturing is not the best way and it never helps, ask me....I dont want to happen it with my kids also.

But does can a Blog ever replace a diary, it is supposed to do so and thats why I was attracted to have my own blog but since its in a public domain, you refrain to write everything thats on your mind and what you feel, jus coz of the fact anybody on this God damn world can read that....

May be I should keep a combination of a diary and a blog, the more personal things can go in the former...

"In the zone"

"The zone according to a sportsman is a state in the game where their bodies reacted automatically to events on the field, and seemed to make the right move everytime to produce a stunning performance."

Thats how I have felt everytime during my life after a test, a viva-voce, an interview, a presentation, a crucial meeting. I dont think that I was always prepared to the best at all these times but being "In the zone" did the trick.

And I am still bewildered how it happens automatically all the time, and it happened today also.

I still remember the 3 hours of my pre-engineering test and how I managed to solve the two questions of "IE Irodov" in the Physics paper, when I have not even prepared from that book, coz I was so afraid of it. It was the first time that "In the zone" did its trick.

If you can solve problems from "IE Irodov", then I can guess you are eligible to solve any damn problem in this world, that menacing book of problems is …

US$200Billion v/s US$178 Billion

I mean how ironical, the investors who stay put on bourses lost USD200 billion in four days and a man managed to mop up USD 178 billion in the same time, almost the same.

I was eagerly waiting the newspapers of today to finally get the final figure of the amont of money invested by everyone in the Reliance IPO, and its mind-boggling USD178 billion. In all it got over-subscribed by 72 times. The retail investors itself put money close to 50k crores, more than 4 times the total issue size....

And I would love to put all the comparative figures put by the newspapers in resonance of this historic occassion, but guess its enough what I wrote.

I dont think that Anil Ambani would be happy with it, he must be dis-appointed that the Reliance IPO dint get USD200 billion, and he might be planning to cross that magical figure with another one from his stable already.

And as for all the people who made the application in the IPO, including my Dad and my Brother-in-law, they are keeping their fingers c…

Don't boil an egg in a micro-wave ever!!!

I dont know why I should be writing on such an obscure topic, but may be I should write to warn off some of my tribes, the adventurous cooks....

Well, Eggs are almost as good as a potential bombs and they will explode if you try to boil them in a micro-wave, I dont know why I did that in first place but I know now certainly why I should not do it ever again.

The reason is that, while boiling an egg in a micro-wave oven, a couple of them can explode inside the oven and when you move the vessel out and just looking at the extent of damage to the egg, the remaining one will explode right in your face and will splash the almost boiling water on your face and you will be left to tending your wounds for the rest of the day with cold water and ice.

So Ladies and Gentlemen, dont try that ever...

Money is everywhere, you jus gotta pick it up!!!

After the grand success of Reliance Power IPO on 15th Jan, there was this interview in one of the leading business daily of Mr.Anil Ambani.

He described in that how everyone ridiculed him and almost wrote him out during the times of de-merger of original Reliance, ie when it was getting divided among the two siblings, and how he was feeling vindicated on 15th of Jan when he has managed to prove everybody wrong...

The guy was never short of confidence otherwise would not have pulled this grand feat, but even then....

There's one more person who got confidence from that grand feat( and may be many more) and thats when you have a good business idea and plan there are scores of people who are ready to invest in your dream and money is not at all a problem.

But the fact is that most of us, rather than everybody of us worry about this fact when they are on the verge of starting their own enterprise...

Now this IPO proves it wrong and gives a shot to people like us a shot in the arm, to pur…

Power on to India on: The power of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani!!!

The headlines of a leading daily described it as "Gone in 60 seconds". And it was. Well this is about the Reliance Power IPO which opened at 1000hrs on 15th January and was over-subscribed at 1001 hrs.

Just 60 seconds required by Anil Ambani to mop up a jaw-dropping 11,700 crores!!!

Is it a record? By all means, man......What do you think.

And its gonna be there till may be when BSNL IPO comes or another one from Reliance, or may be one from my company(after its launched) :-) but this one is the first of them.

Anil Ambani has been known to be a finance wizard, but do they teach all of that at Wharton? I doubt coz then there would be so many of the likes of Reliance Power IPOS all over the world....Isnt it?

Thats the power of one man and his vision, which doesnot have any competition at all, which prompted a mad scramble to pump money in his IPO, and still as this is been written, there is one more day left for his IPO, so the billion dollar question is what is the amount of mo…

Five Pages only: Life cant be more cruel man!!!

I have been asked to prepare a Synopsis of 5 pages about my business plan, which shall include about the quantum of investment required. And if the investors like it, they would ask for the full business plan.

So its all starts there and it might even all ends up there, if you dont get it right it in 5 pages ie.

Everybody knows that life is cruel but it cant get more than that. I mean if somebody asks me to write about my life, it would be over in 5 lines, as nothing worthy to write more than that...

But when you ask somebody to write about his dream idea and also give the quantum of investment required, on which your whole existence might depend, in 5 pages and all; Its damn cruel man...

But cant keep on cribbing man, I have got to do that and do it right.....the most important thing..

Anybody out there who can help me?

Ricky Ponting you did right: Winning is the only thing!!!

Since the Sydney test of the current India-Australia series of 2007-2008, its almost disgusting to read the everyday newspaper. Its full of the same-shit, about the umpiring, about the racism blot on Harbhajan and how the whole India is antagonised by that....

There are a bunch of "divine jokers" out there, which includes the 24 hours TV channel people, the BCCI people and the politicians like Sharad Pawar who man the whole system, and some ex-cricketers who derive their pension from the TV channels!!!

And why "Divine Jokers" coz since they are divine, so nobody can question there authenticity and they manage to steer the masses towards there own half-cooked story.

10 years down the line, nobody would either know or would be interested in the controversy of what happened, and they would just remember one thing that Ricky Ponting's team in 2007-2008 equalled the world record of Steve Waugh of winning 16 Test-matches on trot.

And thats what matters, Winning is not ev…

Everybody's searching for "Abhishek Rai"

It was a pleasant surprise today to see the logs of people who visit my blog. Suddenly so many persons interested in knowing an obscure person so far (Well, there might be a more worthy one also).

But till then, I am basking in the glory.....Ha ha ha ha!!!

Its certain that all those guys are not searching for me (some of them might be), bt at least its pushing the number of people who visit my blog....

They would be sad to read the crap on this blog, but then thats life.....Sometimes you do end up on the wrong side of fence, and you get to know that only when you are there.....

Cheers!!!

It's not a fool's dream anymore !!!

Most often than not an idea of entrepreneurship is about the confidence, not only the confidence you have but more importantly the confidence other's display, the mentors;potential investors etc.

Thats what makes or breaks everything.

Last few months have been a sort of an eye-opener and a roller-coaster rides of emotion, wherein most of the times I started doubting myself and my capabilities and sometimes my dreams.

More so coz people enjoy ridiculing your dreams and ideas of being an entrepreneur.

Things have changed since new year and lot many positive things happened. Most important of all, left the past baggage behind in the old year itself to make a new beginning after helluva of an effort.

And one more good news is that there are a couple of people who believe that my idea is workable and willing to be my mentors and guides and help me.

Had a long and fruitful meeting yesterday with one my mentors yesterday and it all changed then.

So they believe that my idea is workable and am o…
