In the celebration of being alive.....

Image
Mumbai is said to be a city of dreams, but I beg to differ. The reason is that since last almost 5 years, I have always seen mostly gloomy faces in this vast sea of people, whether in the morning or in the night…..Its really difficult to see somebody really smiling or that spark in his/her eyes…If it is a city of dreams then you should be seeing more happy faces and with spark in the eyes, as people who chase the dreams are always alive and happy and not gloomy, at least am not.

Well, the reason itself is that Mumbai is a city of dreams, how contradictory..

We all come here to be someone, to do something and to achieve something in life. I am myself from a small town and always used to dream to be in this city, to give myself a chance to have a shot at my dreams..

And this very chase of dreams is the bone of contention in the lives of all of us…We are never happy with what we have and we are always hungry for more…

Nobody could be more hungry than me, but I am not gloomy faced. I fight an…

We have orders to hold the God-damn post ! ! !

Image
Well this comes from one of my favorite movies “The Windtalkers”. In one of the scene the platoon is surrounded by enemy soldiers and almost the entire platoon is slaughtered. Some of the members want to run away. But then the commander says, “No, We have orders to hold the God damn post”.

So entire platoon is slaughtered eventually by the enemy, the commander is almost killed, but then nobody moves from the post…It’s a gut wrenching scene.

So many number of times in life we have to stick to something which is virtually impossible to achieve and do, coz we have orders..

Like I have mentioned earlier in my blogs, I have been majorly influencd by Armed forces, and that’s what reflects in my life also.

So order means order, when you gotta do it, you gotta do it. Circumstances and consequences don’t matter.

There is a stiff volume target given to us for a single product by our principals and its being monitored every week, so we close the sale on a weekly basis..

And come Thursday, every single…

The Visiting card which does not carry any designation..

Image
Right since the inception of my career, through different companies my visiting card always carried my designation, which obviously kept on changing…

And now, my visiting card does not carry any designation, only my name and my company’s contact details like a usual visiting card.

So whats the big difference? Well, therein the lies the big difference…That means I don’t have any set job profile and I am the Office boy, as well as the CEO of the company…

And that’s how I behave and observe my duties at my work-place.

So I switch off the lights and AC while moving out of the office at night, though there are many people to do that and also, I make and work on the future expansion strategies of the organization…

And that’s what I always wanted to do, and which I believe you can do only when you become an entrepreneur and not in any fixed role job..

So I break away free a couple of months back and now am doing what I wanted to do…

I always wanted to break-free from that designation-stuffed visiti…

The laundry-man! ! !

Image
What a day…. Got up late as was working till early morning. Found out that the tooth-paste is almost finished (even though yesterday was Sunday, missed buying the tube)..Spent a good 10 mins squeezing out the remains…It was late already, so just donned the jeans and went out. Too many projects to work on during the day, so worked on each of them one-by-one, but guess missed out on a couple of them..

Well, wanted to meet a friend but had to go back to home as I had to wash clothes..

So got home, had to switch on my laptop immediately as missed writing a mail to somebody…and then started my Endeavour of washing the clothes..

Now its not the first time that am washing the clothes, but there’s something so intriguing about this, every time its feels as arduous as the first time….but then does a bachelor has any choice….Laundry??? Not at all….I know where some of the laundry guys wash the clothes, and am happy washing it myself, however tough it is..

So there I go again…..Washing clothes at 23…

The 10 day itch....

I believe am a leader, or at least I try to be one. And most of my; leadership skills are based on from I have been influenced most…The Army and defence forces.

You can never get a better leadership school than the Armed forces, and though I was never allowed to join but yes I have imbibed the basic principals of them in my life and they will stand through the rest of it…

And that’s how I teach my men and train them, no margin of error, when you are involved with life and death,. That’s how I take it. Business is not too much different than fighting a war…

Well some guys stand and work with me and some leave me, mostly within 10 days of either them joining me or me asking questions to them…depends…

And believe me there are more guys who leave, rather than who decide to work with me. The reason I am a tough task-master and I don’t take any non-sense, coz I am myself no-nonsense guy. And when I give it all, I demand the same from everyone else..

So it’s a 10 day itch for everyone, when I sta…

Bravo and well done my Jehadis!!!

Last 4 days of the past week had been tough, quite tough. We were given a stupendous target of one category of product and believe me, “impossible” is quite an appropriate for the numbers that we were asked to deliver by Saturday,17th.

But then I have a team of “Jehadis”, who don’t believe in giving it up and they will fight and fight till they win, and that’s what happened on yesterday. We delivered on our target, and in the end you wont believe, we ran out of stocks…..I could not stop laughing when I got to know that we have run out of stocks of “N”.

I mean here we spent almost 3 sleepless nights, just thinking how to deliver the numbers and on Saturday evening, we ran out of stocks, and believe me the inventory was so much that, when the stock were getting un-loaded on 16th, I asked the guard of the warehouse that its all stocks or he has kept the empty boxes along with it also…..

So when you gotta do, you gotta do, and that’s what we did….We did it…

Though I missed the target which I …

Triple Century!!!

So its 300 posts now on my blog...and its still going strong. Well, most of them are written by me, but some are collected from the web and emails also, but basically reflect my thoughts..

Off-late, I have been a bit sluggish in my writing, but now I am back to my speed and want to increase the numbers of my blog and the number of people who view it...Basically its an intrinsic hunger for numbers....So goal set on 400!!!

Thanks for all of you who read my crap....Trust me its safe and harmless...And nobody ever died of that...

Cheers!!!

When you are not suitably dressed for meeting...Just buy new clothes.

Well, what you do when you have an important meeting and you are not appropriately dressed or you are running short of clean laundry…

You step into a mall, buy new clothes and go the change-room, dress to kill and move out with the old clothes in the handbag, hand it over to someone and then proceed for meeting.

Well, that’s what I have done twice in a fortnight. Had some urgent important meeting which were called impromptu and I was not dressed for the occasion, so in distress, I went to the nearby mall and did what I just described above.

Well, it may sound very simple, easy and rational. But just before meeting you go for shopping is not my idea, but then what to do……You have to leave all the work mid-way, hunt for clothes (though I might be among the quickest shopper in the world, and I complete my shopping usually in a jiffy).

And then I have already so many clothes lying in my house that on every Sunday, I have to bring out a lottery, as to wash which clothes and which to leave!!!

The common between Mr. Kerry Packer and me...

Well, I identify with each of these sentences spoken by Mr. Packer....So blunt and so true...

1. I don’t want to be left behind. In fact, I want to be here before the action starts.

2. There is nothing they can do to stop me . Not a goddamn thing.

3. There’s two things you should know about me. One I`m a gambler and usually very lucky, and two, I don’t die easy.

4. The good news is there’s no devil. The bad news is there’s no heaven. There’s nothing.

5. Watch out that greed doesn`t eat you up- a person’s life doesnot consist in the abundance of his or her possessions.

6. My life is sport. I was academically stupid and my method for surviving through school and those sort of things was sport.

7. He wasn’t very lovable but he was bloody efficient( On Genghis Khan).

8. There is a little bit of the whore in all of us, gentlemen. What is your price?( To the Australian cricket board in 1976)

The Cliffhanger-And the bout of craziness

Well, I adore beaches but I love mountains…and this love affair started from Jabalpur where my childhood and teenage years were spent. The city has too many small mountains, and I climbed all of them quite regularly all through my stay over there..

A couple of them were near to my home and they were my favorites, and whenever I will reach there top, one of the mountains which was out of the city limit will beckon me and challenge to climb him…..I always vouched that one day I will do that…

But that guy was so far that it will took me many hours just to reach there, and that too by climbing all the mountains which come in the way and to avoid exhaustion from sun, I need to finish my mission before it gets too hot..

So one day, after my 11th standard exam, I decided to accept that challenge. I told my mom the night before that I will leave the home for my routine morning walk a bit early and she should not worry….And I knew that it wont be a bit early but in fact in the dead of the night…

The Nuclear threat !!!

Well, this story goes back to the days when I was in standard 3rd in school. Jabalpur is a big cantonment and all of us were linked to defence in one way or either as we were studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Well, I was always more keen on pursuing topics and discussion related to defense particularly as my father was scientist with defense research and I would always browse his technical magazines or papers and trying to ascertain the facts as much as I can ,at the age of 8.

Those were also the days of Cold War and every now and then this topic would come in news about the impending nuke strike by USSR and USA on each other’s installations and cities and I used to consider myself an expert both on the technology and the extent of devastation that it can cause and would never miss a chance to flaunt my vast knowledge of the subject, at the age of 8.

So one day in the lunch break, when somehow this topic got up and in all my grandeur, I started describing the gory details of a nuclear stri…

Quite a lull

Well, it has been almost ages since I wrote anything.
And on the contrary, there is so much to write now, as something is happening everyday...May be when there is so much to write, you dont write.....Life is all about contradictions...So wanted to break the zinx today, and so I have done that.....
Now hope to be regular again...
Since traffic to my site has dwindled quite a lot, and I hate seeing numbers down.
Even if it is the number of people visiting my site....So I need to fix the fall in numbers...
So here I am.....writing again....
