The QSQT saga....1

I still remember my trist with "QSQT". I guess it was one of the friday and it was "chitrahaar" time, it was a new song that they played, the last one.

It was "Papa kehte hain", and I was tottaly fixed on that song, forever.
The lyrics of the song were the talk of the school, the next day. after much pleading with my dad, he bought the audio casette for me, and since that day, that casette played only one song, and you guessed it right......"Papa kehte hain".

after a few days, my mom was tottaly bemused by this action of mine, playing a single song, over and over again.
It was a daily ritual for me to play this song, after coming back from the school straightaway....While I will freak on the song, my mother will shout at me to to stop the song....

That day, and this day, nothing has changed, as far as my fascination or rather the obsession for that song is concerned.

After a long time, I found the song, the mp3 version, and agaion I try to listen to t…

There she comes again.....

Dont let your wild gooses flying by reading the heading of the blog....

"She" is my beloved "month-end" and she is gonna come again, like all these years, but its always special, when you have changed the guard, and that moment is rare, like this time.

so this is my first month-end, in the new job, and guess am enjoying it so far, the pressure is more only from the previous one, and its the same which I have heard of this profile.

I guess, I have settled almost and my numbers are decent so far, and I shuld hit the numbers, God willing ie. But stillo, there are some things, which foxes me, but guess thats natural, whenever you switch a job.

So now as of this moment, while I am writing this bog, I am doing my work simultaneously also. My boss says, thats the hallmark of a good manager. Boss, you are always right!!!

Two more days before the result is out and like always, "Jo jeeta wohi sikander"!!!

I am learning, and simultaneously fighting for the numbers,…

The lyrics of the songs...

I guess, the day before yesterday, I published on my blog, lyrics of 5 songs.

Many people will wonder, the reaason for this!

The thing is that the lyrics of these 5 songs, are among those which I like most. These lyrics are so meaningful and they convey you a message.

There are so many more, and may be from time to time I will continue posting these. At my blog, I can view them any time, may be when I am feeling down, I can perk up by reading them.

"Another day in paradise" has been mt favourite, right since the days when it used to come in the Phillips ad. I guess, some 12-14 years back. Such touching lyrics........

There are so many songs, which you love to listen, but there lyrics are not meaningful.

From time to time, I will keep on publishing the lyrics of the songs, which I like the most....

I got you babe........

They say we're young and we don't know
Won't find out till we grow
Well I don't know babe if that's true
Cause you got me baby, I got you

Babe, I got you babe,
I got you, Babe.
They say our love won't pay the rent
Before it's earned our money's always spent
I guess that's so, we don't have a lot
But at least I'm sure of all the things we got

I got flowers in the springI got you,
you wear my ring
And when I'm sad, you're a clown
And if I get scared you're always around
And then they say your hair's too long
But I don't care, with you I can't do wrong
Then put your little hand in mine
There ain`t no hill or mountain we can't climb

I got you to hold my hand
I got you to understand
I got you to walk with me
I got you to talk with
I got you to kiss goodnight
I got you to hold me tight
I got you
I won't let go
I got you who loves me soI got you, babe

There's a hero
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
Of what you are
There's an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know
Will melt away

And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you

It's a long road
When you face the world alone
No one reaches out a hand
For you to hold
You can find love
If you search within yourself
And the emptiness you felt
Will disappear

And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you

Lord knowsDreams are hard to follow
But don't let anyoneTear them away
Hold onThere will be tomorrow
In time
You'll find the way

And then a hero comes along
With th…

Another day in paradise!!!

She calls out to the man on the street
"Sir, can you help me?
It's cold and I've nowhere to sleep,
Is there somewhere you can tell me?"

He walks on, doesn't look back
He pretends he can't hear her
Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
Seems embarrassed to be there

Oh think twice, it's another day for
You and me in paradise
Oh think twice, it's just another day for you,
You and me in paradise

She calls out to the man on the street
He can see she's been crying
She's got blisters on the soles of her feet
Can't walk but she's trying

Oh think twice...

Oh lord, is there nothing more anybody can do
Oh lord, there must be something you can say

You can tell from the lines on her face
You can see that she's been there
Probably been moved on from every place
'Cos she didn't fit in there

Oh think twice...

When you're gone!!!!

i've been wandering around the house all night
wondering what the hell to do
i'm trying to concentrate but all i can think of is you
well the phone don't ring cuz my friends ain't home
i'm tired of being all alone
got the tv on cuz the radio's playing songs that remind me of you

baby when you're gone - i realize i'm in love
the days go on and on - and the nights just seem so long
even food don't taste that good - drink ain't doing what it should
things just feel so wrong - baby when you're gone

i've been driving up and down these
to find somewhere to go
ya i'm lookin' for a familiar face but there's no one i know
this is torture - this is pain - it feels like i'm gonna go insane
i hope you're coming back real soon - cuz i don't know what to do

Miss you like crazy!!!!

I used to call you my girl
I used to call you my friend
I used to call you the love,
the love that I never hadWhen I think of you,
I don't know what to do
When will I see you again

I miss you like crazyeven more then words can sayI miss you like crazyevery minute of everyday
girl i'm so down, when your loves not aroundI miss you,
miss you, miss you,
I miss you like crazy
you're all that I wantyou're all that I need
can't you see how I
feelcan't you see that my pain is so real
when I think of you, I don't know what to dowhen will I see you again
girl I'm so down, when your loves not around
I miss you, miss you, miss you
, I miss you like crazy even more then words can sayI miss you like crazy every minute of everyday
girl I'm so down, when your loves not around
I miss you, miss you, miss you,
I kiss you like crazyI miss you like crazy, I miss you like crazyI miss you like crazy,
I miss you like crazy

I would answer a few of the comments.....

1. Manish Sahab, One of my distributors is also an Engineer, like you and me. And luckily, he perfectly belives in the definition of the comfortable ambient tempreature, given by ASHRAE, for the lesser mortals thats "American Society of Heating,Refrigeration and Airconditioning Engineers". And ASHRAE says that its 25degrees celsius.
And I am lucky that these folks believe in that.
And I hope, he is not reading my blog, and learns your secret weapon of "Abhishek Destruction".

2. Miss Anonymous, I chased "Jerry" for 4 years, day and night. I tried every second. Now its not worth, so I have let it go. I cant keep on hurting myself for nothing. I gave it my best shot, nobody would do so like me, in the circumstances, but now, its time to move on, so the chase is stopped.

3.Nids, darling, write something more diffferent than your usual, "Keep it up". Be something more original than that yaar. Just for the sake of …

Rita brings Sunshine to Mumbai!

It looks so nice today, Sun finally being out in Mumbai. It has been raining since ages now I guess. And post 26/7, like evrybody else I am also fed up of the cloudy skies.

Though till day before yesterday, I never missed a chance of getting wet. The only thing that irritates is that, when you wake up and find the weather gloomy! It dampens your spirit a bit. Though its not sunny all out today, the clouds are still there, but guess they are in a mood to spare us.

Guess what, Rita brought sun-shine to Mumbai!!!

Got good news that a few of my sales number that were not reflecting in the system, got traced and now will be credited.

Thanks to boss and Galdy! Thanks a ton!

I was so anxious all these days, that my numbers should be more than what is getting reported, now am a bit relieved.

Now, got to wash my clothes for the coming week, that has become a part of my daily sunday routine, for many years, right since my hostel days.

I hope that it stops raining now, since its almost October now. Thou…

Today when I saw this signboard on one of the office doors and a salesman pondering outside, whether to enter or not, it reminded me of mine old days.

Well, this was the sign on the door, which I had to face everyday, when I started my career about 5.5 years back. I was selling "Yellow Pages" in my first job and it was space selling. Part of the job was to knock the door of any commercial establishment, to check whether they will be interested in putting up an ad in the yellow pages or not.

More often than not, I would encounter the above mentioned sign on the door, and then would stand for 5 minutes outside the door, thinking whether to go in or not. If I dont go in, I may lose a customer, while if I do go in, as it is, I have nothing to lose.
Though, sometime, I do used to get some not so nice words, but still that always made my resolve more stronger to knock on tnose doors.

Sometimes, I wanted to shout back, that dont say all these, bloody I am an Engineer, may be more quali…

Today, after finishing work, boss offered to have a beer and we went to a pub. After many songs, the DJ played, "Sweet child o mine" of GnR.
While I was listening to this song, I tried to relate the name of band, with my own life, and how true?

"Guns n roses", thats what happens with all of us salesmen, everyday.
The day you do your numbers, you get roses, and the next day if you fail, you have a gun , bang on your head!

Its so strange, how things change in one day in our lives. You are as good as your last show only, and nobody knows this better than all of us. You have only 6 hours of the night to rest on your laurels, coz next morning, you have to prove yourself again.

Its so cruel, but believe me, its such a fun! No other profession offers you so much challenge.

For the years that I lead a team, I also follow the GnR principle, in fact I follow the "HnR" principle(Which is coined by me), its "Howitzer and Roses principle".

I see that if someone per…

It took me 4 years to realise that and well, I have stopped chasing my "Jerry" which I was doing for all these years.

I guess, anybody who watches the Cartoon Network, would vouch for the fact that it is impossible to catch Jerry for Tom.

We all have our "Jerries" in life, stuff and dreams, which somewhere down below, we know that are impossible to achieve, but still we keep on hunting for them, like Tom.

I guess, I might be saying contrary in this blog, to what I said, in a couple of blogs earlier. But there is a difference between an impossible dream and a "Jerry Dream", which I would like to call it.

An impossible dream still has a certainty of getting fulfilled, but yes, thats tough.
A "Jerry Dream" is something which is not possible at all, however you try.

It is very essential for us to demarcate the impossible challenges that we pose for ourselves from the "Jerries" that we chase day in and out.

Once we identify our "Jerry", …

The second challenge!!!

I dont know, but it has always happened to me that only one challenge is not enough to spur me on!

Generally you have one or other, professional or personal challenge going in your life(Like I have of a new job), and that occupies most of your time, fighting it.
But I have always searched for that elusive thing, which I think, is so difficult for me to do in the present or forthcoming circumstances, and then I perk up.

At the end of the day, when you finish work, I still need something to look forward to, and thats why this second challenge.

Its so strange, that even after working hard for 12 hours a day, at the end of the day, you are fresh(mentally), coz you know that, this impossible dream of yours is waiting you.

And more often than not, I dint get my dreams, but what the heck.......I chased them with the best of my abilities, and I enjoyed the journey.....and always will.

So again today, I have found for myself a new challenge, which is as impossible as it can get, and I will start chas…

Back to school again!!!

So finally after a fortnight, the sunday is usual, the way it used to be, earlier in life. After 14 hectic days, life has paused today, and for the better.

After the change of guard, the next fortnight was spent trying to imbibe whats happening in my sphere of business, and how does it all move. You are often so perplexed at the scheme of things, but then things are always so different in one place from another.

And I guess this is the challenge to everyone in life, how to manage change and how to adapt to it. The changes are both professional and private, and in both the cases, more often than not they are forced. So you struggle to get the grip over the things.

But I always enjoyed the challenge of change. In my 5.5 years of career, I never worked in the same business twice, though its a very small span in one's career, but they are people who remain in the same business, even in this span.

I always thrilled on change, you enter new business, its own dynamics, its own scheme of thin…

God, Why I was not born a Sardar?

I always ask this question from God whenever I see a gorgeous punjaban kudi!

One more instance that, yes, Life is unfair!!

I had an opportunity to spend about 5 months in Punjab on deputation in one of my earlier company, and besides the scenic beauty of nature, what attracts you, is the beauty of those gorgeous gals. And since unfortunately I dont sport a turban, so the chances become very slim of mine to attract them.

And I envy my brethren who sport a turban, they are so damn lucky to get close to those beautiful gals, and I am left rubbing my palms.

Dear God, This is an earnest request to you, next time, please make me a "Sardar" and see, dont disappoint me please, All these years have been so agonising for me. I hope by now you must have seen that. So God, do that please.

Sincere Rgds

Now it ain't free!!!!

Well so far, the maximum of my blogs has been written on my communicator N9500. Like for a writer nowadays, his laptop is indespensable, same for me is my N9500.

Writing has never been so easy and fun and that too free. Coz even if you write on paper, that costs you and nowadays more so, same holds good for a good pen.

It was free, you write it on the computer from your office and thats free, You write it on N9500 and publish it by connecting GPRS and it was almost free as Orange used to charge only Rs.99 for WAP-GPRS.

Now for the first time, every time I publish the blog via my N9500, I check the cost as the tariff by Orange has changed for the data download and it reflects straight on my screen.

So apart from the time you spend on writing the blog, now there is the monetary aspect also involved in that.

So are you going to see less of me on my blog??

But those were the good old "free" days!!!

"Hot seat" of Bachchan and "Cold seat" of Manish!!!

Theres one guy who dont believe in the concept of "Hot seat", rather believes in the contrary!

Well, Mr. Manish who is the distributor of one of my former company, has a "Cold seat" in his office, which is, believe me is more torturous than any " Hot seat" in the world.

This seat is to his left in his spacious cabin and faces the AC bang on. Unfortunately, I had this horrible experience of being forced seated on that chair, quite a many times in the recent month.

Usually, myself and Manish, while discussing business, sit facing each other and that "Cold seat" is vacant. But when my bosses visit, they sit across the table and I am forced to sit on that "Cold seat".

And boy, trust me thats as good as the 3rd degree torture. With the room tempreature at 16 degrees celsius(Thats the comfort tempreature for Manish), and you facing the AC blower, you dont need to visit Antartica!

Often, I need to request Manish to increase the tempreature and he …

The Oasis in Mumbai!!!

Well, most of the people who reside in this city, love to hate this place.

But there is one place, for which all of them will agree, that its an oasis in a desert like Mumbai, where you seldom find frsh air even to breathe.

I went to such a place and its called "Reclamation" at Bandra, I guess, it has been couple of months since I lasted visited the place. since the weather was very nice and it was raining yesterday, so after finishing the work yesterday(Yes, I was working on a sunday), I decided to have a "dekkho" again at that place.

It was sexy out there, the breeze was so cold and refreshing, which you dont find often at sea-shore locations, and when it used to rain, it was pure bliss!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed my couple of hours over there, and thankfully was not too crowded also, may be due to the rain. Being there, you cant really imagine that you are still in that city called, Mumbai.

I guess, that place wins my vote for the best place in Mumbai.

May be if work permit…

Too busy to write the blog!!!

So it has been quite a few days since I have written something , Its not that I have run out of ideas, but the fact is that, at present, too busy in my new job.

Since, I want to understand and learn the business, so devoting as much time as possible in learning.

Since this is a new thing, so its exciting to learn all the stuff...

May be now on sunday will get the time to write freely, ideas keep on flowing, need to ink them...

Nids thats for you!!!

Hi Nids!!!!

Tulips are my favourites, so thats why sending them to you, the e-way!!!

Woul try to figure out where to find the real ones in Mumbai, and then will send you the real ones!!!

Take care always and May God always bless you!!!

We got our first real six string!!!

In past 3 companies that I have worked for, this is the first time that I had the induction on the very first day of the job.

Actually I was lucky to attend it on the first day(I was the only guy joining that day, rest were a few days older than me).
In the past 3 companies, 2 never conducted the induction and in the 3rd one, it happened exactly one year down the line.

Well, the induction says a lot about the company and the way it percieves its human resources. Like here, the CEO himself came down in the morning to give a pep talk(Dont know in how many companies it happens).

Well, the one who dont conduct an induction at all, what about them?

When an employee joins, he or she feels the urgent need of info on a variety of aspects, and more so if he or she is outside from the industry then the source of knowledge is limited to the official web-site(And if the company is not listed then the info is very limited), If proper info is not provided by the way of induction, you feel rudderless an…

Fourth time lucky!!!

So after months of deliberating upon, Josh finally got the guitar on saturday.

I guess, it has been in the pipeline for past 6 months or so, as far as I remember.
I also always wanted to learn how to play guitar since childhood, but this was one of the dream, which I cold shouldered. Now, I have the opportunity.

I still remember the first time when I saw the broken guitar of my dad when I was a toddler. I dont think that dad remembers now how to play it, so I will have to learn from Josh.

In fact, 2 guitars were bought. Vikas also bought one, but since he doesnot stay with us now, so no use. But yes, he has promised to teach me every saturday or so. He plays well.

On saturday evening, the first song that he played was"Main nashein mein hoon" from "The God", Jagjit Singh. And then we remembered which all songs can be played and then tried one by one. Inspite of not having the practise, Vikas played well.

When he went off to meet Josh, I tried my hand on it, just to have a…

Good things do come to an end!!!

Well, thats what has happened with me!

The new company which I have joined, needs you to swipe the card when you resume your work, every morning.
And till the time you dont have the access card(Like I dont have as of now), you are supposed to log-in into the intranet and post your attendance!!

Well, this exercise starts from Monday onwards, when after the weekend, I go back to office.

Sales is a function in which I have always enjoyed flexi work hours, that means that if you reach home by 1am, you have the liberty to go to office by 11 or so in the morning, but I guess, thats all gonna end, forever.

The higher you go up the ladder, more the responsibilities, and that means that even if you had late night at the office, it gotta be early morning only, next day!

But, its good I guess, you can do so much by reaching office early, plan your day better, and thats gonna be a good thing.

And my morning is gonna to be much earlier hence sunday, since the office has shifted up-town,may be this cultiv…

Hitch-hiking on a Railway Engine!

Well, the Local train drivers of Mumbai are contemplating going on strike, the reason is that, the Railway Ministry has decided to cut their pay!

Well, if there was one instance to prove finally that the Railway Ministry is a team headed by a lunatic, this is it!

Its very difficult to say what prompted this decision, but I guess these gentlemen would have been in one of their
best minds to do that, after all, to squander billions, you need to save every single penny!!

But Mumbaites and WR dont worry, I can pitch in to save Mumbai from crisis....

It has been my childhood dream to be a "Railway Driver". It always seemed so romantic to me to drive that monster, in the lush green plains, in mountains and to top it all the Mumbai-Pune route.

During my childhood, everytime when we used to go on vacations by rail, I remembered trying to do "Peek-a-boo" inside the engine, just to see what all is there inside.

My dream finally came true on night, when giving to my obsession, my f…

Dad, are you happy now???

Hi Dad,
How are you doing? Sorry, could not pick your call yesterday as was stuck up. Would call you tonight.

Dad, I guess, you would be happy today as I have joined as"Area Sales Manager" of a multi-billion dollar enterprise.

Dad, I still remember the day when I got my first offer letter for the job of a "Sales Executive" about 5.5 yrs back.
You were so angry, that I am starting as a petty " Tie-wearing SE" and would have to go "Door to door".

While the children of your colleagues were doing PG or being software engineer, or were doing decent jobs, here I was, would be wearing a tie(Though, Anil Ambani also wears one to work) and would be going shop-to-shop.

I knew, I guess that you were feeling ashamed, what you would tell to everybody, that your Engr. son is a 1900 worth SE?

But dad, At that moment I dint had any sales work-ex, and I had to start somewhere, I had to begin somewhere....

And dad, I was not ashamed, why should I?

I knew, I had to go thro…

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.

Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last.
Do you run through each day on the fly?
When you ask, How are you? Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores running through your head?

Ever told your child, We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste, Not see his sorrow?

You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere, you miss half the fun of getting there.
When you hurry and worry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift......
Thrown away.

Follow your instincts.....

Thts what I have done, like always....

"Woe its me" cleared the final doubts that I had regarding the option of which company I should join.

"Woe" you are true, Money can never buy you, your dreams!

I have been also looking for this opportunity for long, and its a dream come true for me, when I manage a direct team under me, It's a culmination of lots of hard work.

The journey of an Engr, as a salesman, which started as a "Sales Executive" of yellow pages, has finally reached a point, where I can say that my decision to chuck the job of a "Service Engineer" with a starting salary of 8k, for a job, of a SE, with a pay of Rs.2200 was right!!!

I wanted to follow my dreams, 5.5 years back, and today again, I am following my dream, and would always will!!!!

A couple of thousands, here and there dont make a difference, Dreams are more important...

And Moolah eventually falls, nobody knows this better than me, as my first salary was , I guess, Rs.1900.

Blogger helping me in getting me my hits!!

Well, people who have been regular at my blog would be a bit surprised by seeing the counter below, ringing so fast all of a sudden....

Day before yesterday, I was also surprised.

So, out went I looking for the reason. The thing is that there were guys from Chile, Brazil, Spain, Russia, Bulgaria, and lot many from the US...

I never knew that I have such a big fan following, spanning all across the globe!!!

When, I tracked their URLs from where they come, I got my answer. All these people got to my blog, by hitting the "Next Blog" button at the top right hand corner of the, blog they visited.

So, Blogger has now come to my help to get me my numbers in this regard, they are putting up the link of my blog, to a lot many other blogs....

But I guess, this is again all about the numbers! And "Blogger" got convinced of Mr. Abhishek Rai because of the fact that in last two months my daily average is more than a blog per day, and its already 66 blogs(Todays blogs not included).
